Travel Letter for Minors

I get frequent requests for travel letters.  These are used when one parent (or another non-parent) is taking a child to another country.  Travel letters document permission being given by the parent(s) who are not traveling with the minor.  The purpose is to help ensure a child is not getting taken out of the country illegally or without parental permission.

Please see the links I am including for more information on creating your travel letter.  Although I am happy to print a completed letter for you, and in some cases type a letter at your direction, I cannot offer any advice on the letters.  Travel letters do not need to be notarized, but the US Customer and Border Protection states it is highly recommended.

As a Notary, I do not verify who the legal parent or guardian is; my role is to positively identify the person signing the document.

You may also consider the Parent Power of Attorney from Washington Law Help as it includes information that gives POA to someone who you allow to take your child out of the country (click link below.)
